Polycarbonate is a type of thermoplastic plastic made from the combination of Bisphenol A and Carbonate. Like extruded acrylic, it is manufactured using a calendering method in which raw materials are melted and passed through a heating roller and an extrusion line.
It has good impact resistance and durability when compared to extruded acrylic, but its surface scratch resistance and transparency are inferior to that of extruded acrylic. For this reason, a hard coating is required to apply it to external or scratch-resistant fields. It also has good heat insulation, UV blocking effects, electrical insulation, and good flexibility and light when compared to glass. As a result, it has excellent workability despite its impact degree being about 150 times higher than tempered glass.
